HANDLING TO THE POWER OF TWO

It’s time for a new interpretation of flying tandem. The PASSENGER 2 brings the agile solo handling to the two seater class for the first time – high turn propensity with low control pressure are making the PASSENGER 2 a very efficient work tool for every tandem pilot. The PASSENGER 2 combines high performance with highest safety and is putting the fun in flying first. The advanced two seater is available in two configurations as GT or Pro version.

The PASSENGER 2 is aimed at all tandem pilots who are looking for a highly developed two seated wing from the newest generation. Agile handling combined with performant glide- and rise features are easy on the resources of the pilot on cross country flights for two.

Chief designer Ernst Strobl equips the PASSENGER 2 with various constructive innovations. The PPN and the sharknose are providing a higher profile fidelity alongside the cell opening. Elaborate calculations of the ballooning in combination with the optimized pre-tensioning of the wing are ensuring the perfect flow around the profile. The High Pressure Crossport Design (HPCD) provides an ideal cross aeration of the crossports and ensures a balanced internal pressure in the whole wing. In the rear part of the wing Miniribs and the Break (ßACHTUNG DA HAST DU IM DEUTSCHEN EINEN TIPPFEHLER DRIN) Gathering System (BGS) are providing an efficient force transmission of the brakes. The riser is equipped with an innovative trimmer system. The effective system prevents the warping of the profile, through not only accelerating the D and C level, but also the B level is being changed in relation to the angle of attack. Through that the form of the profile is being maintained, which leads to better gliding. On the D-riser a special clamping device is mounted, which allows the pilot to fixate the brake lines in any position. Therefore even in turbulent conditions, you can take care of the passenger. A separated A-riser offers an easy way for doing Big Ears.

  • OUR RESCUE SECURE

MUCH SAFETY PACKED IN SMALL SIZE

Low sink rates and fast opening are what define the SECURE. The Rapid Inflation System (RIS) designed by U-Turn is providing very low opening time.

Particular ribbons cause that the canopy does not lie flat on top of each other at the ‚base‘, but that an accurate calculated pre-tension generates air gates. Thereby the filling behaviour is positively influenced, especially in the first few milliseconds. For the SECURE the PARATEX RS is used. The cloth was designed by U-Turn in co-operation with Paratex and optimized for the usage in reserve parachutes. It is a tear-proof nylon fabric, which fulfilles the high demands to tear resistance and at the same time ideal porosity, at only 40 grams per square meter. The fabric quality additionally ensures the relatively small pack size of the SECURE.

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT STABILISATION

The innovative system by U-Turn steps in if the air gets turbulent. This technique is possible through a precise calculation of the pre-tensioning at the end of the wing.

BREAK GATHERING SYSTEM

Through this system the range of of the trailing edge is shortened, which positively influences the brake characteristics.

B-FLIGHT SYSTEM

Two color-coded control loops on the B-risers are enabling steerable aids of decending – the B-flight.

EXTENDED AERATION SYSTEM

During normal inflow the additional openings in the upper sail are closed. This is caused by the internal pressure and the air swirl, which occurs because of the inflowing air in the leading part of the wing profile.

HIGH DEFINITION PROFILE

Plastic-rods are worked into the upper side of the profile of the wing and cover between 45 and 80 per cent cord.

HIGH PRESSURE CROSSPORT DESIGN

It provides an ideal cross aeration of the crossports, that helps to balance the pressure differences on the inside of the wing efficiently and therefore ensures a balanced internal pressure in the whole wing.

LINE LOOP PROTECTION

A spliced-in Kevlar-core in the connection flap is protecting the loop and reducing the surface pressure at the line conjunctions.

MINI RIBS

Mini ribs are optimizing the wing profile alongside the trailing edge and are thereby providing a better braking characteristics.

MULTIBLE SPEED SYSTEM

An additional flap on the riser is enabling a variable hook-on height of the speed bar pulley and therefore provides a bigger accleration distance.

PILOT ASSISTENT

Color-codings as well as icons are providing a fast overview – to have better orientaion on the risers.

PRESSURE BALANCE VALVES

The established valves in the bottom sail are providing additional aeration in extreme angles of attack.

STABILO SECURITY FUNCTION

With a rubber line, positioned on the riser, the stabilo line, which is led on a pulley, is easily graspable and you can react faster when making a swaying movement.

ZIPPER FLEXIBLE SYSTEM

Through the built-in zipper the wing can be made smaller, which enables an extended weight range and a flexible handling in usage – the cells can be stored in the glider.

3D SHAPE

The 3D shaping is providing specific tension control of the wing and therefore optimized balooning and wrinkle-free outline guidance.
